The baby cable pattern should read:

Row 1: (WS) K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to last stitch.
Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to last stitch.
Row3: Rep row 1.
Row 4: P2, *k2tog but leave stitch on needle, insert right needle back into the first stitch, knit this stitch, drop both sts from neede, p2; rep from * to last stitch.
